Comparative efficacy (II)

Proportion of Gram-negative bacteria in the subgingival flora

Treatment with Veraflox® returned the periodontal flora to a healthy state and stabilised this effect for at least three weeks after treatment. If a shift from a mainly Gram-positive flora to one of mainly Gram-negative bacteria is indicative of periodontal disease, the reversion of this change is clearly indicative of a return to periodontal health.
This treatment also resulted in a significant reduction of subgingival Gram-negative bacteria over the study period. However, the reduction of Gram-negatives was significantly higher in the pradofloxacin group, indicating a faster return to periodontal health. 12
