In order to assess the safety profile of pradofloxacin, dogs of different ages were treated with Veraflox® tablets at and above the recommended oral therapeutic dose of 3 mg/kg of body weight once daily for adequate periods of time1. Parameters for safety evaluation included: body weight, food consumption, clinical observations, haematology, clinical chemistry, urinalysis, physical examinations, vision and pupillary reflex examinations and ophthalmological examinations.

The monitoring of a broad range of standard safety parameters revealed no treatment related changes in any of the parameters, showing that Veraflox® was very well tolerated in dogs at the recommended dose and that it has an adequate safety margin.
