The influence of pradofloxacin on the haemopoietic system in dogs was assessed at different dosages at and exceeding the recommended oral dose of 3 mg/kg body weight for variable lengths of treatment 13-18.
Haematological indices were generally unaffected up to 6x overdosing (18 mg/kg). Statistically significant decreases in the absolute neutrophil count, red blood cell count and platelet count could be observed starting at 9x overdosing (27 mg/kg). The parameter values returned to pre-treatment levels within 11 to 21 days after the end of treatment, thus indicating reversibility of effects.
Veraflox® demonstrated to have adequate safety margins in dogs (at least 9-fold).
